we upgraded to a suite with a kitchenette.\u00a0 It\u2019s perfect for having kids, as there\u2019s a pull-out couch bed and another small twin that pops out of a cabinet.\u00a0 So both kids shared a room separate from ours.\u00a0 We had the ground floor, which doesn\u2019t have amazing views, but I\u2019ll take it over anything else, especially with kids.\u00a0 We can walk straight from our rooms to the pool in less than 30 seconds.\u00a0 The kitchenette is worth mentioning again.\u00a0 Half of one suitcase was filled with breakfast items, lunch items, snacks, etc\u2026\u00a0 It made life much easier not having to rush to each meal at various restaurants.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Fun Vibe<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; Though I\u2019d be a little disappointed if I were still single and 20 years old (since more than 1\/2 of the guests are older or kids), the pool activities and events are really fun.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Pool<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; The pools are great. 3 large pools along with an adult area pool.\u00a0 The Jacuzzi up top is massive and perfect temp.\u00a0 For such a big place, you need a huge jacuzzi.\u00a0 The adult area has its own jacuzzi.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14079\" src=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pool-playa-grande.jpg\" alt=\"Pool at the Playa Grande Resort\" width=\"907\" height=\"344\" srcset=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pool-playa-grande.jpg 907w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pool-playa-grande-300x114.jpg 300w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pool-playa-grande-768x291.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 907px) 100vw, 907px\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Fireworks during Fiesta<\/strong><\/span> &#8211;\u00a0 They didn&#8217;t last long, but we also got fireworks from a few other resorts on other nights.\u00a0 The events are a lot of fun, and worth doing too.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14081\" src=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/playa-grande-events.jpg\" alt=\"Playa Grande resort events\" width=\"907\" height=\"1133\" srcset=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/playa-grande-events.jpg 907w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/playa-grande-events-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/playa-grande-events-820x1024.jpg 820w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/playa-grande-events-768x959.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 907px) 100vw, 907px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Close enough to town<\/strong><\/span> &#8211;\u00a0 You can walk, but in July, it\u2019s HOT.\u00a0 We walked a bit, but usually just because we didn\u2019t have enough cash on hand. \u00a0 It\u2019s oppressive walking around in this heat, so definitely bring enough cash for taxis.\u00a0 Uber isn\u2019t recommended here yet, so look for the big white vans with green stripes.\u00a0 Easy and not terribly expensive.\u00a0 Have Cash!!!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14080\" src=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/playa-grande-location.jpg\" alt=\"Playa Grande Location\" width=\"907\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/playa-grande-location.jpg 907w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/playa-grande-location-300x140.jpg 300w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/playa-grande-location-768x359.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 907px) 100vw, 907px\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Games<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; ping pong, kids area, corn hole, bracelet making, painting stations, and more.\u00a0 We did the mini golf course, which was fun despite it being in disrepair and HOT as all hell.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14077 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/resort-games-mini-golf.jpg\" alt=\"resort games and mini golf\" width=\"907\" height=\"1104\" srcset=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/resort-games-mini-golf.jpg 907w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/resort-games-mini-golf-246x300.jpg 246w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/resort-games-mini-golf-841x1024.jpg 841w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/resort-games-mini-golf-768x935.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 907px) 100vw, 907px\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>No bugs<\/strong> <\/span>&#8211; I don&#8217;t know if this is because we&#8217;re in the desert, or if they just spray heavily.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s hope it&#8217;s a desert thing.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #339966;\">Room Amenities<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; comfy beds, good A\/C, Blow dryer, good mirrors for the ladies<\/p>\n<h4><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-13135\" src=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/line-300x28.gif\" alt=\"line\" width=\"300\" height=\"28\" srcset=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/line-300x28.gif 300w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/line-908x84.gif 908w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/line-1024x95.gif 1024w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/line-768x71.gif 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>CONS:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>No ocean access<\/strong><\/span> &#8211;\u00a0 The beach here is massive and up against the Pacific Ocean.\u00a0 With no break in raw energy, this beach gets slammed with shore break waves.\u00a0 Granted, we did visit during one of the biggest south swells to hit in decades, this area is known to always have shore break that doesn\u2019t suit normal vacation swimmers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Black mold in showers and heavy smell<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; It smelled like a mix of mustiness and nasty chemical fragrances from cleaning supplies.\u00a0 Even the toilet paper had the fragrance.\u00a0 Some people would love that, but we don&#8217;t.\u00a0 Also, we didn&#8217;t notice till later in the stay how much mold was in the showers.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Food<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; We knew from reviews ahead of time that the food wasn\u2019t stellar.\u00a0 That being said, Calima had some nice meals (the fried red snapper was delicious, but the short rib was the worst we\u2019ve ever had).\u00a0 We opted to not be tied to the meal plan, and we were so grateful.\u00a0 The food we ordered at the pool was pretty terrible.\u00a0 The worst quesadilla I\u2019ve ever had.\u00a0 But the worst meal we had here on the property was at the most expensive restaurant.\u00a0 Brigantine has a nice view and decent service (despite being understaffed), but the food was subpar.\u00a0 My 14oz medium ribeye was well-well done and flavorless.\u00a0 Each meal was underwhelming and we walked away $240 poorer wishing we\u2019d gone back to one of the taco stands we learned about while on <strong>Juan More Taco Food Tours<\/strong>. <em>(read about them below.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Pool chemicals<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; Each night they shut down the pools fairly early for chemicals.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know if they put these signs out just to keep people from swimming late and making noise or if it&#8217;s legit.\u00a0 Regardless, it was a bummer to have them close after sunset.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Music could be more varied<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; I mean, they play everything under the sun, but it\u2019s looped daily. The video shows much of what we did.<\/p>\n<div class=\"container-lazyload preview-lazyload container-youtube js-lazyload--not-loaded\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-3oEtSY8VaU\" class=\"lazy-load-youtube preview-lazyload preview-youtube\" data-video-title=\"Cabo San Lucas - Regions, Restaurants, Activities with Kids\" title=\"Play video &quot;Cabo San Lucas - Regions, Restaurants, Activities with Kids&quot;\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-3oEtSY8VaU<\/a><noscript>Video can&#8217;t be loaded because JavaScript is disabled: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-3oEtSY8VaU\" title=\"Cabo San Lucas - Regions, Restaurants, Activities with Kids\" target=\"_blank\">Cabo San Lucas &#8211; Regions, Restaurants, Activities with Kids (https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-3oEtSY8VaU)<\/a><\/noscript><\/div>\n<h4>Juan More Taco Food Tour<\/h4>\n<p>I\u2019ve never been on a food tour and never thought it\u2019d be something worth doing.\u00a0 But wow, it turned out to be a crucial intro to Cabo.\u00a0 The importance of great food is paramount for us when traveling.\u00a0 We want the best (not necessarily the fanciest or most expensive).\u00a0 We want the freshest local ingredients put together by masters in their cuisine.\u00a0 We would never have known these places existed if we\u2019d asked other tourists, the concierge, or just shot in the dark.\u00a0 Much like when visiting Vietnam, we found the best spots at hole-in-the-wall spots.\u00a0 Spots where they obviously didn\u2019t care about dining aesthetics.\u00a0 It was all about the food with our amazing guide Miguel, who was enthusiastic and full of Mexican history. This guy loves food and loves his country.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14082\" src=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/juan-more-taco-tour.jpg\" alt=\"Juan More Taco tour\" width=\"907\" height=\"1258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/juan-more-taco-tour.jpg 907w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/juan-more-taco-tour-216x300.jpg 216w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/juan-more-taco-tour-738x1024.jpg 738w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/juan-more-taco-tour-768x1065.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 907px) 100vw, 907px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed sopes, tacos, tequila, tacos, quesadillas, tacos, ice cream, tacos, churros, and more tacos.\u00a0 The amount of food we were given the opportunity to eat paid for the tours in themselves.<\/p>\n<h4>The Marina<\/h4>\n<p>At the heart of Cabo San Lucas is the Marina.\u00a0 It&#8217;s worth spending time here, even if you&#8217;re not planning on a boat ride.\u00a0 The kids loved the feet-eating fish, shopping for little knick-knacks, and eating at spots along the water.\u00a0 We also taught some good lessons in haggling.\u00a0 If they wanted it, they had to haggle the price down a bit.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14083\" src=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/cabo-marina.jpg\" alt=\"Cabo Marina\" width=\"907\" height=\"373\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Arch<\/h4>\n<p>We took a glass bottom boat to see the arch and Land&#8217;s End.\u00a0 It was beautiful.\u00a0 Again, we went during a massive south swell, so we couldn&#8217;t go very close, but the wave action made for a pretty dramatic view of this area.\u00a0 We wanted to go out on the boats completely made of glass, but they said they weren&#8217;t running due to the swell.\u00a0 Still worth the quick trip.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14085\" src=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/cabo-arch-boat-tours-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"907\" height=\"205\" srcset=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/cabo-arch-boat-tours-1.jpg 907w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/cabo-arch-boat-tours-1-300x68.jpg 300w, https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/cabo-arch-boat-tours-1-768x174.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 907px) 100vw, 907px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Parasail<\/h4>\n<p>Flying high above Cabo was a major highlight.\u00a0 You get a real understanding of how things are laid out, while enjoying the peace and quiet of being incredibly high!<\/p>\n<h4>Medano Beach<\/h4>\n<p>We loved this area. The beaches are spectacular!\u00a0 It&#8217;s worth renting an umbrella and spending the day here.\u00a0 The only cons are all of the vendors constantly hammering you.\u00a0 They literally will come back again and again.\u00a0 But, it was still worth it.\u00a0 Find a spot far away from the boats, as the exhaust is nasty.\u00a0 We especially loved this area because of the epic restaurants on the sand.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"restaurants\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14086\" 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/h4>\n<h3>CABO SAN LUCAS RESTAURANTS<\/h3>\n<p>Though we found even more incredible food options when staying in San Jose Del Cabo, later in the trip, we had some of the best Mexican food of our lives!\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em> (We&#8217;ll share San Jose del Cabo in a future <a href=\"https:\/\/activityauthority.com\/blog\/\">blog post<\/a>.\u00a0 For video<\/a>.)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h4>The Office<\/h4>\n<p>This place is pretty legendary, and was PACKED!\u00a0 We loved the food, ambiance, and tables in the sand.<\/p>\n<h4><img loading=\"lazy\" very far either.<\/li>\n<li>Great food in town.<\/li>\n<li>Water temp and color at the beach is Perfect!<\/li>\n<li>Everyone takes the US dollar.\u00a0 Also, credit cards are accepted at most spots.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">CONS<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>HOT.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re going in the summer, expect it to be sweltering.
